Obituary

"Everyone Akah met was his best friend."

Truer words were never spoken.

Akah E. Core of Pembroke passed away on September 26, 2025 at the age of 55. Akah was the beloved husband of Karen Campbell Core and cherished father of Desmond Core, Sean Core, Akah Core, Jr., the late Michael Core and Natilie Core; step-father of Samantha Crumlish and Alexander Crumlish; and dear brother of Tahona, Charles Jr., Inger, Mononga, Jimmi, Sean, Tshombe, Cat, Deandrew, Melvin, and the late Monica, Bahja, and Baha. He was son of the late Charles Howard Core, Sr. and Rutheria Lee Core.

Akah was known for his humor, his warmth, his love of hot sauce and his playful use of the word idiot. Akah bought his unique spark to everything. He loved laughing and spending time with his children, family and friends. He really had the unique quality of making you smile when you heard his voice. We have heard the phrase that is said about a good person, that "he would give you the shirt off his back."

That was Akah.

Akah's work was a caddy at Brae Burn Country Club in West Newton since the age of 13, and he rose to be recognized as the top caddy. Akah earned everyone's respect by helping teach and mentor the young caddies. He absolutely loved his time at Brae Burn, making lifelong friends, it became a second home. His passion was golf, and when he was not caddying he was swinging a club in the back yard or playing at his favorite course, Pembroke Country Club. He had his regular group game on Mondays, every other round he was joined by his wife Karen.

Akah also loved watching all Boston sports teams, westerns old and new, anything golf related, and listening to Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers.

Akah loved being surrounded by Karen's five dogs -Snoopy, a Jack Russell, two King Charles cavaliers, Bliss and Peanut, and two shepherds, Poison and Ivy.
