Alan R. Walsh, 88, of Marshfield and Naples, FL., died at his home Saturday after a brief illness.

Devoted husband of 63 years to Rose (Lawlor) Walsh, and son of the late James and Eleanor (Moore) Walsh of Jamaica Plain. He is survived by his children, Kevin and his wife Donna of Naples, FL.; Brian and his wife Ellen of Holbrook; Kathleen Spicer and her husband Albert of Carver; Mary Beth Barton and her husband Thomas of Hanover; Maureen Flanagan and her husband Michael of Plymouth; and Mark and his wife Kerri of Scituate. He was the brother of Jean Bryant of Brewster; Mary Hanley and her husband Tom of Naples, FL.; Anne Walsh- Cunnane and her husband Robert of Brewster. He was predeceased by his brothers James Jr. and Lawrence. He was the beloved grandfather to 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Alan was raised in Jamaica Plain and attended Boston Latin School. He was a proud alumni of Boston College where he received his bachelor degree and he worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts until he retired in 1985. He raised his children in Newton and moved to Marshfield after retirement. Alan was a member the Elks and Loyal Order of Moose. He spent summers in Marshfield and winters in Naples, where he enjoyed playing cribbage, reading and spending time at the pool.

Visiting hours will be held in the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 Marshfield, on Tuesday October 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann's By the Sea Church, 591 Ocean St. Marshfield at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will in the Couch Cemetery on Union St. in Marshfield. Contributions in Alan's memory may be made to My Brother's Keeper, P.O. Box 338, Easton, MA 02356-0338.
