Al "Jake" Bonney was born and raised in Marshfield, graduating from Marshfield High School in 1954. He lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. Jake went on to proudly serve in the US Air Force and is a veteran of the Korean War. He married the love of his life Judy DeStefano on June 5, 1960, raising their five children in Marshfield. Jake had a long career in computer operations for various companies, retiring from IBM in 2003. He loved to travel with Judy, and they spent his retirement years traveling whenever they could. His favorite places to travel were Hawaii and Florida with his family. Jake enjoyed spending time with his friends playing Pinochle and Cribbage at the Senior Center. He was also involved with the Korean War Veterans; you could find him outside of Star Market or Roche Brothers on holidays collecting money for student scholarships. Family and friends meant everything to him, and he always wanted to spend time with those he loved.
Thank you to the entire care team who took such great care of Jake over all these years. Thank you to all his family and friends, including the Marshfield Senior Center and the Korean War Veterans, who gave him so many great times to look forward to.
