Andrew Warren Mayo, age 66, passed away quietly at his home in South Boston, Virginia Tuesday, June 27th, 2023. Andrew is survived by Cathy Mayo, his wife and best friend of 40 years, and their three sons, Nick Mayo and his wife Sasha, Andrew Mayo and his wife Kati, and James Kenneway and his wife Beth, along with his three grandchildren, Jacob, Josie, and Carter.

Son of Walter R. Mayo and Frances Cone, Andy was born in Weymouth and grew up in Marshfield. He attended Marshfield High School and went on to attend Northeastern University. After his schooling, Andy continued to call Marshfield home for over 50 years and eventually retired to South Boston, Virginia. He was a municipal employee as well as an on-call firefighter for many years with the Town of Marshfield. A kind, light-hearted individual, Andy was well liked by everyone he met. He brought a sense of humor and kindness to every conversation and truly cherished the relationships he had. Andy was the example of a devoted husband, father, and friend. Well known for having a passion for history, Andy continued to immerse himself in learning more about American history as he aged, regularly visiting historical attractions, reading historical texts, and watching documentaries. An avid gardener, he could always be found in the yard working the earth for the perfect harvest. Andy will be remembered for his dedication to his friends and family along with his outgoing personality and infectious smile.

A memorial service celebrating Andy's life will be held on Monday, July 10th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home,1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield with a reception to immediately follow from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Marshfield Elks Lodge, 1321 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
