Andrew M. "Buddy" Monahan passed away peacefully on December 28 at his home in Marshfield. He was 79 years old.

Andrew was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was married to the late Mary (Coakley) Monahan of Weymouth. He was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Monahan of Mission Hill Roxbury, where Andrew grew up. He attended Mission Hill High School and graduated with the class of 1957. After high school Andrew faithfully served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

Andrew had a lifelong passion for Boston sports and automobiles. He owned many custom and rare cars. He was a devoted fitness enthusiast, often doing hundreds of pushups, chin-ups, and sit-ups daily. He also had quite a sense of humor along with an endless supply of jokes which he always enjoyed telling.

Andrew was one of 8 children; he had six brothers and one sister. Andrew is predeceased by Francis Monahan of Weymouth, Richard Monahan of Palm Coast, Florida, and Mary Monahan Farrow of Weymouth. He is survived by James Monahan of Dorchester, Robert Monahan of Norwell, and Paul and Kevin Monahan of Palm Coast, Florida. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Visitation from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield will conclude with a funeral procession to St. Christine's Parish Church, 1295 Main Street (Rte. 139) for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Andrew's memory can be made to the Mission Church, 1545 Tremont Street, Boston MA 02120 or St. Christine's Parish Church.
