Nelson, Andrew John of Duxbury, passed away on December 28, surrounded by his family, at the age of 82. Beloved Husband of Carol E (Doyle) Nelson of Duxbury. Loving father of Drew Nelson and his wife Lisa of Duxbury, Michael Nelson and his wife Chrissy of Duxbury, David Nelson and his wife Linda of Hingham, Ma. Grandfather "Fafa" of Jessica, Sara, Grace, Molly, Jack, Ben, Michael, Henry, Charlie, Jason, Neal, Brittany, Heather, Bradley Nelson and great grandfather to Landon Nelson. Also survived by sister and brother in laws Alama and Jim Kearns, Sharon and Richard Johnson and by nieces and nephews Megan LaCava, Patrick Kearns and Wendy and Adam Johnson.

Born December 30, 1932 in Everett, Ma to Robert W. and Mildred Nelson. Longtime resident of Duxbury, MA. Graduated from Christian High School. Went on Gordon College and Wentworth Institute where he played Baseball and Basketball and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed time with his friends and family, playing golf, sailing, skiing, tennis and watching his favorite Boston Sports teams. Andy was a longtime member of Duxbury Yacht Club serving over time as a Director and chairman of Men's Golf, Mass Golf Association where he served as a rules official. He was a volunteer fire fighter in Everett, Ma and a longtime volunteer of the Duxbury Fire Department where he worked his way up to the ranks of lieutenant. He was a long time member of the Pilgrim church in Duxbury, Ma.

Visiting hours will be at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street., Rte. 139 in Marshfield, Ma on Sunday, January 4th from 1p-5p. A graveside service will be held in the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury on Monday, January 5 at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial Service held at 12 noon at The Pilgrim Church of Duxbury, 404 Washington Street.
