It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Angus Alphonse MacDonald, affectionately known to all as Phonse. At 88 years of age, Phonse passed away peacefully with his cherished and devoted wife Anne at his side.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Brenda MacDonald and her husband Bruce, son Mark MacDonald and his wife Sarah, and grandchildren Christina, Carter, and Hayden. He also leaves his brother Doug MacDonald. He was predeceased by siblings Alexander, Margaret, Donald, Anne, Theresa and Ronald.
Born in Mull River, Nova Scotia, Phonse carried the warmth and wit of his Cape Breton roots throughout his life.
As a young man, Phonse moved to Boston, but he never left behind the music, stories and traditions that shaped him. In Boston, he built a life with Anne, his children, Brenda and Mark, and his extended family. Phonse and Anne's marriage of nearly sixty years was rooted in love, commitment and true partnership; a lifetime of shared joys and quiet strength.
Phonse was an incredible father, a loving Grandfather, a respected businessman, a devoted and active member of his church community and a passionate fan of his beloved Boston sports teams.
His generous and benevolent spirit touched all who met him.
