Ann Elizabeth Carr

Ann Elizabeth (Jones) Carr, 91, died on September 26, 2026, at St Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts. Born on August 21, 1935, Ann was the eldest of five children of Margaret Duffy Jones, originally from Donegal, Ireland, and Wyman R. Jones of Marshfield, Massachusetts. She grew up during the Great Depression and World War II in the coastal town of Brant Rock, Massachusetts. There, at just thirteen years old, she met Samuel F. Carr, the boy who would become the love of her life.

Ann and Samuel married on September 7, 1957, beginning a life together that would grow to include five daughters and four generations of cherished family. They moved a lot due to Samuel’s career as a naval officer and shared sixty-three happy years of marriage until Samuel’s passing at their home in Tiverton, RI in 2019.

Ann had a lifelong love of animals, especially cats. At the age of ten, she became a member of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), an organization that remained close to her heart throughout her life. She loved reading, music, sewing, flower gardening and taking cruises with her daughter, Margaret. She also loved watching the fireworks on July 3rd from the family home in Brant Rock, afternoon teas at Blithewold mansion in RI, and visiting her sister Grace on the island of Vinalhaven, Maine. Above all, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

Ann is survived by her five daughters, Margaret Carr, Elizabeth Carr, Catherine Aguiar and her husband Brian: Charlotte Cirillo and her husband Peter: Patricia Phillips and her husband Jason: her six grandchildren, Ryan Carr, Nicole Hughes, Connor Phillips, Ian Phillips, Cole Cirillo, and Chace Cirillo. She also leaves her great-grandson, Daniel “DJ” Hughes.

She is also survived by her sister, Grace Mullen; her brothers, Robert Jones, and Howard Jones; her brother-in-law, Robert Carr, and many nieces and nephews across the country. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret Duffy Jones, and Wyman R. Jones; her brother, John W. Jones; and her beloved husband, Samuel F. Carr.

Ann’s passing leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her. Her memory will live on through the stories her family shares.
