Obituary

Ann T. (McGahan) McGeoghegan passed away peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2022, after a brief illness. She was 88. Born and raised in South Boston by her late parents John McGahan, Sr. and Anna McGahan Gannon, she grew up with her siblings, Helen Muratore, Eleanor McGahan, Bobby McGahan, and the late John McGahan, Jr., Billy McGahan, Dorothy McGahan, Mary Belanger, and Adelaide Cheever. She then moved to Braintree, where she raised her family with her former husband, the late Anthony McGeoghegan; later in life, she lived in Marshfield and Kingston.

Ann graduated from South Boston High School and was proud of her Irish heritage. After raising her children, she worked for many years at Filene's in Braintree. She later worked at the afterschool program in the Marshfield Recreation Department.

A faithful Catholic, Ann was a parishioner at St. Thomas More Church in Braintree and later at St. Ann's by the Sea in Marshfield, where she also volunteered. She enjoyed trips to California and Disney World in Florida with her children and grandchildren, as well as a visit to Ireland. In the summer, she relished time with relatives at a family cottage.

Family was her greatest joy. A loving and devoted mother to her five children, Ann worked tirelessly helping and supporting them as they grew up. She also adored being a grandmother, cheerfully babysitting, attending their activities, and listening to their stories. She was a kind and caring person, endlessly good-natured, and a true light in her family's lives.

Beloved mother of Debi Leahy and her husband Joe of Marshfield, Cindy Leahy and her husband Michael, Glenn McGeoghegan and his wife Mary, Brian McGeoghegan of Cape Coral, FL, and Cheri Frenzo and her husband Mark. Cherished Nana of Sean (wife Leah), Kevin (wife Kristie), Ryan (wife Anna), and Stephanie; Andrea and Drew; Westley (wife Ann) and Matthew (wife Samantha); and Gianna. Loving great-grandmother of Patrick. Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St. in Marshfield. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at St. Ann's by the Sea, 587 Ocean St. in Marshfield, with Interment to follow at the Couch Cemetery in Marshfield.
