Griffin, Anne Dowling (McDermott) of Mashpee, formerly of Duxbury MA. Passed away peacefully on Friday November 8th, 2024. Anne born and raised in Quincy MA came to Duxbury as a summer resident and built a home in Duxbury after marrying her former spouse, William Griffin.
She was the daughter of Christopher and Josephine McDermott of Quincy, MA. Predeceased by her brothers Christopher McDermott his wife Dorothy, James McDermott his wife Marion, sisters Kathryn Hager her husband Carl, Dorothea Basney her husband John, Mary Boyd, Josephine Tinney, her husband Joseph.
Anne spent her life devoted to her children, son Christopher his partner Jill, daughter Deborah Anne her late husband Dimitri Karagiannis, son James Sr., daughters Judith, Marianne, Janette her late husband Glenn Mehrman, son Sean and Erin her husband Stephen McGarrigle.
Anne was a devoted loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Marley her wife Rosemary, Christopher his partner Cortney their mother Anne Marie, Alexandra, and Marina, their mother Lisa, Joanna her partner Luis Hernandez, Josephine her partner Keith Pagano, James Jr. his partner Amanda, Jessica their mother Brenda, Ryan, Faith her husband Stephen Granato their father Doug, Kathryn her husband Steven Mathews, Jerome his partner Ryan, Sean Robert, Nicole her husband Cameron Drew, Andrew, and Reed McGarrigle. Her grandchildren provided her the energy for life.
She leaves behind her great grandchildren Elyza, Haleigh, Charlie, Frankie, Santino, Marco, Marius, Hailey, Joseph, Mia, Anthony, Zoey, Alexa, Vasilios, Charlotte, Jocelyn Marie.
She loved her many dear nieces, nephews and cousins, and her extended family she gathered along the way in life. Anne's door and heart was always open for everyone to be included in the chaos it did not matter there was always room for more.
Anne loved to go antiquing, gathering at the Irish Village, Neil Diamond, spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren, cooking, golfing, any sandy beach from New England to Jamacia, loved traveling especially to Ireland with family, she was always somewhere with her family, extended family, and friends. Anne's remarkable love for life is a reminder of the power of love, hard work, and the enduring strength of family. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Time Passes, love remains.
In honor of Anne's memory and legacy, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM, at Holy Family Church on November 21st, 2024, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, MA. Followed by a gathering at the Duxbury Legion on West Street. In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate in her memory to the Home for Little Wanderers where she would volunteer during the holidays when she worked at John Hancock in Boston.
