Anthony (Tony) Egan of Vero Beach, Florida and Marshfield, MA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 6, 2025 following a brief illness.
He was a longtime resident of Campbell Hall, New York before retiring to Florida.
Tony was born in 1944 in Birr, County Offaly, Ireland to the late Joseph and Mary Egan. He immigrated to the United States with family when he was 15 years old. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from St John's University and a master's from Manhattan College. He also proudly served in the US Army. He worked as an accountant for many years at Swiss American Securities Inc. on Wall Street and later at Rockefeller Center.
Tony was the youngest of 10 children. He was predeceased by all his siblings, his brothers John, Joseph, Michael, James, and Liam Egan and his sisters Lill Egan, Mary Behan, Nancy Tierney and Joan Grimes. He was also predeceased by his nephews, Joseph Grimes and Michael Behan, and his beloved daughter Kara whose ashes will be interred with him.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen, and sons Desmond and his wife Erin of Marshfield and Anthony and his wife Kelly of Yorktown Heights, NY. He also leaves his two cherished grandchildren Kyla and Quinn Egan of Marshfield and several nieces and nephews, both here and in Ireland.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10 from 1 to 4 at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street, Marshfield MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 11 at 10:30 at St. Christine's Church, 1295 Main Street, Marshfield, MA. Interment will follow at Couch Cemetery, Union Street in Marshfield. Mass will be live streamed.
