DIPAOLO, Antonina (Lena) of Norwell, Marshfield, and Mattapan, passed away on May 22, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Pietro (Peter) DiPaolo. Loving mother of Joanne (DiPaolo) Morel, Peter DiPaolo and his wife Patricia, Paul DiPaolo and his wife Cheryl, and Lisa (DiPaolo) Bacewicz and her husband Charles. Cherished grandmother to Jonathan, Jennifer, Gregory, Melissa, Eric, Devon, Peter, Teresa and Alicia. Great-grandmother to Isabella, Mia, Nicolai, Antonina, Sophie, Jackson, Josephine, Walden, Wyland and Bodhi.

Lena was born, raised, and educated in the North End of Boston, near the site of St. Leonard's Church. She married Pietro in 1945 and enjoyed over 40 years of marriage before Peter's passing in June of 1988. They raised their four children in Mattapan and were able travel extensively together.

She worked in several retail channels with her last and favorite role as fitting brides for their wedding day. Lena was a tireless volunteer and had affiliations and positions with the Sons of Italy, Marshfield Council on Aging, and various local AARP chapters. She would host an amazing fashion show fundraiser each year – recruiting family and friends to wear borrowed outfits from local retailers. And whatever the group, she ran her meetings with grace as well as the gavel. As a champion for the elderly, she would reach out to politicians about inflation and housing costs for seniors. Her fantastic memory never missed a birthday or anniversary.

She was an incredible baker and passed on her legendary Pizzelle technique and recipe to a chosen few! Easily the best Italian cook in the world, she was always ready to host and feed family, large groups, and parties. Whatever the setting, Lena had a flair for fashion and was always "dressed to the nines" - and if there was a dancefloor and music nearby, watch out – she was there!!

Lena will be most fondly remembered as the ultimate Wife, Mother, Nana and caregiver with boundless energy and a warm smile!

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street, Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church, 40 Canal Street, Marshfield. Interment will be in the Couch Cemetery, Union Street, Marshfield.
