Obituary

Arthur Paul Johnson, (73), peacefully passed away the evening of June 25, 2015 at Beth Israel Hospital. Formally married to the late Judith Johnson for 23 years, he is survived by their loving daughter Kristen Johnson Aronoff, her husband Morgan Aronoff, along with his grandson twins, Benjamin and Nathan Aronoff of Quincy. "Art," also leaves behind his devoted, long term partner of 17 years, Eileen Marshall and her three children and five grandchildren. Amy, married to Callum Valleli, with children Caiden and Sofia, of Quincy. Ben, married to Robyn Gaeta Marshall, with their daughter Ella, of Quincy. Kate, married to Michael Canina with their children Michael and Hannah, of Brockton. Art's faithful, four- legged companion, Buddy, will also miss his doting friend. Arthur was born on May 4, 1942, to Bertha and Victor Johnson (both deceased). As a young adult, he embraced his musical talents, graduating with a Master's degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. He shared his passion as an educator, becoming a beloved music teacher for the Stoughton Public School system for 4 years and the Duxbury Public School system for 34 years. As a musician, tutor, and private instructor, many of his students praised his abilities to make a significant difference in their lives, as he taught them to embrace their own musical talents. Not only did he play the trumpet, he performed in life, doing the things he enjoyed, his way. Whether it was riding his motorcycle, caring for his lawn, soaking up the sun at Hampton Beach, talking to new people, or walking his dogs, he was easily recognized, by his white signature ponytail. Remaining true to his roots, he also remained a committed, long time member of the Cornerstone Lodge and the Scottish Rite Freemasonry. Most notably, Arthur's pride swelled, when he talked about all of his grandchildren, and knowing the people he cared for were happy. He was a husband, father, friend, Grandpa, and Papa Artie, who will be greatly missed by many. A viewing will be held Thursday July 2, 2015 10-12pm, with a ceremony immediately following at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St. Marshfield, Ma. 02050. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthur Johnson Memorial Fund for the Duxbury Public School Music Department. Please send to: In Care of Rockland Trust, 184 Summer St., Kingston, Ma. 02364
