Arthur J.
Toto
April 8, 2026
MacDonald Funeral Home
10:30 - 11:30 am (Eastern time)
Arthur J. Toto, 78, of Marshfield passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026 surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. His final moments reflected the way he lived his life - grounded in family, loyalty, and quiet strength. By his side were his devoted daughter Shanah; his son-in-law, Robert, and his cherished grandson, CJ, all of Marshfield, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Arthur was born in Chelsea in 1947, the beloved son of Carmine and Madeline Toto. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Toto, Sr., his sister Theresa Hannigan and her husband Jim, and his sister Carol Bowen. He is lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart and will carry forward his memory with affection.
A man of simple pleasures and enduring passions, Arthur found happiness in the everyday moments of life. He loved skiing and golfing, and he took great pride in tending to his garden. A devoted sports fan, Arthur especially enjoyed watching baseball and remained a lifelong, loyal supporter of the Boston Red Sox, rarely missing a game and always ready to share his opinions. He dedicated more than 30 years of his professional life to Verizon, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment. Beyond his career, Arther was a proud and longtime member of the Marshfield Elks and the Duxbury American Legion, organizations that reflected his sense of community and service.
Arthur shared a particularly special bond with his daughter’s beloved dog, Rockszie, whose companion brought him comfort and laughter, and who will miss him dearly.
Arthur will be remembered not only for his steady presence and love of family, but also for his stubborn will – he could be stubborn a times – but it was matched by a deep loyalty and unwavering devotion to those he loved. Above all, he valued family, tradition, and the simple moments that brought people together. His presence will be deeply missed but his legacy will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal Street in Marshfield. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Arthur’s life.
