Barbara A. Clark, 77, peacefully passed away at her home in Marshfield, Massachusetts on the morning of Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
Barbara was born in Boston, Massachusetts the daughter of William Watson, Jr. and Florence (Carew) Watson. In 1965, she graduated from Girls' Latin School in Boston and received a Bachelor of Science, in Psychology, Magna cum Laude at Boston State College in 1972. Then in 1982, Barbara earned her Physician Assistant certificate at Northeastern University.
While a student at Boston State College, she met her charming late husband, Roger. They married on June 1, 1972, and lived together in Dorchester where they raised their children. Barbara truly cherished the 36 years of her marriage to Roger. They spent summers in Marshfield and enjoyed taking long walks on Duxbury Beach together. Eventually, they became permanent residents of Marshfield. For many years, they vacationed in Tortola, BVI, where they enjoyed going scuba diving and dancing to local reggae music at area establishments.
Barbara was a loving mother and grandmother, selflessly giving her love and care for her family. Whenever a family member needed her assistance or advice, she could be counted on. Hearing of happy moments and accomplishments in her children's and grandchildren's lives filled her heart with happiness not to mention, pride. She was deeply proud of her work in the medical field as a pioneering Physician Assistant. Barbara had a very meaningful career in the Division of Cardiac Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, eventually becoming the Chief Physician Assistant where she helped countless patients.
Outside of work and family, Barbara had a keen interest in Shotokan Karate and practiced at the Boston Karate Club in her younger years. She also served as an instructor, 4th DAN (degree). Barbara was proud to be a member of the East Coast International Shotokan Karate Federation and Japanese Karate Association. She loved to read a good book in the sun and spend time at Duxbury and Green Harbor Beaches. To all who knew her, she was a very wise, witty, and vivacious woman who will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched.
For the past several years, Barbara happily shared her life with her partner, Daniel Hurley who was her favorite Marshfield lobsterman. Together they spent many adventurous days diving off the coast, fascinated by the beautiful ocean and its creatures.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents William Watson, Jr. and Florence Watson, beloved husband Roger Clark, and beloved daughter Beth Clark. She is survived by her son Matthew Clark and his wife Kathryn; son Andrew Clark and his wife Cristina; and daughter Samantha Kiernan and her partner Steven Vollenweider.
