Donovan, Barbara A. ((Lee), of South Boston and Marshfield, passed away on January 27, 2016 at the age of 91.

Beloved wife of the late James J. Donovan. Dear mother of Daniel Donovan and his wife Ruthanne of Marshfield, James Donovan and Robert Donovan, both of South Boston, and Paula Murphy and her husband John of Marshfield. Mother in-law of the late Pauline (Bowes) Donovan. Grandmother of Daniel, Matthew, Michael, John, and Becky, Barbara leaves 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Boston to the late Robert L. and Mary Alice (Hurley) Lee, Barbara was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and held the rank of Lieutenant Commander of the U.S. Naval Reserve. She later worked as a Clerk at the Registry of Deeds in Boston and for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of MA. Barbara and James summered in Marshfield until he passed in 2004, at which time Barbara made Marshfield her permanent home. She loved to knit and crochet for the entire family, especially Christmas stockings for the holidays. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Barbara will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte 139) Marshfield. Funeral from the funeral home Monday, February 1st at 9:00 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Service at St. Ann by the Sea Church, 591 Ocean Street, Marshfield. Interment will be in Couch Cemetery.
