Barbara E. (Brooks) Greene, a long-time resident of Duxbury, passed away on February 2, 2022 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Edward Greene, she was the dear mother of Susan Almeda and her husband Mark of Walpole, Elizabeth Cheer of Arizona, Philip Greene and his wife Amy of Hingham, John Kelly-Greene and his wife Darcy of California, James Greene of Puerto Rico, and the late Christopher Greene. She was the proud and doting grandmother to 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was born in Somerville and grew up in Wakefield. She graduated from Katharine Gibbs and worked as Boston Office Manager for Charlie O. Finley's Insurance Company. She and her husband Edward Greene moved to Duxbury in 1959 and raised their 6 children there. Many Duxbury residents will remember Barbara for her beloved drop-in babysitting service. She retired from Batelle in 1996 and after the death of her husband Edward, moved to Sunrise Assisted Living of Norwood where she lived out the last three years of her life.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 10 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street in Duxbury. Interment will be in the Mayflower Cemetery of Duxbury.
