Barbara A. Mahoney (Crowley) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, after enduring a long and relentless battle with Alzheimer's disease. Barbara was born to the late Vincent and Martha Crowley in South Boston where she graduated from South Boston High School in 1953 with straight A's all 4 years. She married Lawrence Mahoney and raised her family in Marshfield. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Lawrence, brother Duncan Crowley, and nephew Charles "Chuckie" P. Murphy Jr.

Barbara is survived by her daughters Marty Mahoney and her husband Michael (Hurley) of Marshfield, and Katie Mahoney of Marshfield. Barbara is the beloved grandmother to Myles McCabe, Patrick Hurley, Andrew Hurley, Logan McCabe, Brigid McCabe, and Michael Hurley. She is a sister to Martha Louise Murphy and brother-in-law Charles Murphy of Rockland, Vincent P. Crowley and sister-in-law Dinah Crowley of South Boston, and Frank Crowley and sister-in-law Margo Crowley of Summerville, South Carolina.

There are three things that Barbara loved most and that was her family, her lifelong friends, including her singing group the Strings (formerly known as the Apron Strings), and Trinity Church in Marshfield Hills. Barbara's greatest joy was her girls, her grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. She lived vicariously through all of them unless, more often than not, she was either right in the middle of the action or the ringleader. She worked as an administrative Officer for the U.S. Department of Education and was an incredible teacher to everyone who knew her. She loved thoroughly and unconditionally. She was fiercely loyal and had unwavering faith in those she loved and most importantly she was kind.

Please join her family and friends for a celebration of her life with a service at Trinity Episcopal Church, 229 Highland Street in Marshfield, on December 9, 2023 at 1:00pm. A reception with her favorite music and refreshments will follow the service at Johnson Hall.
