Obituary

Barbara A. (Jackson) Scott of Green Harbor passed away on March 14, 2025 at 90 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Frederick "Scotty" Scott; loving mother of Steven Scott and his wife Mary of Marshfield, Gary Scott and his wife Karen of Hollywood, FL, and Lori Millett and her husband John of Plymouth; cherished grandmother of Jeffrey (wife, Jessica), Emily (husband, Chris), Andrew (fiancé, Abby), Benjamin (wife, Ashley), and Samantha Millett; great-grandmother of Grayson, Scarlett, Kennedy, Lincoln, and Cameron. Dear sister of Doris Walton and Ann Loughran, she also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was born in Boston and lived in Weymouth during her youth.  Her family moved to Green Harbor when she was a teenager, and she was a graduate of Marshfield High School class of 1952.  She went on to Graduate from Bridgewater State in 1956 and taught at South River Elementary School for over 40 years. In her younger years while in school she worked as a lifeguard at Green Harbor Beach and her parents' restaurant, the "5 Jacks" in Green Harbor. She met and married her husband (Frederick Scott "Scotty") in December of 1956.  Upon their retirement, her parents sold restaurant to Barbara and Fred, who renamed the business the "Green Harbor Lobster Pound". They sold the best lobster rolls and onion rings for over 39 years.

After retiring, Barbara remained in Green Harbor where she enjoyed volunteering with various groups including the Green Harbor Yacht club and giving tours of the Old Winslow house. She took up ballroom dancing in her later years and participated in many competitions. She was a seamstress and even sewed her own clothes and ballroom gowns. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading books - she had to keep busy. She participated in a book club up until the Covid pandemic.  She planted and maintained her own vegetable garden until 2 years ago and she loved sharing her bounty with her family, friends and neighbors.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They brought the biggest smile to her face.  She will be greatly missed by all.
