Bernard "Pat" W. Burke, 89, of Marshfield passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends on March 28, 2019. Pat was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Eleanor and three of his children Richard Burke, Loretta Brill and Jon Burke. He is survived by his four children Marie DeMello and husband James, Kathy Burke-Southworth and husband Rick, Patrick Burke and Michelle Keyes and husband Dennis, 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Son of the late Francis and Alwilda (Bagley) Burke, Pat leaves his siblings Francis Burke, Ethel Duff, Margaret Hayes, Nancy England, and George Burke. He was predeceased by siblings William Burke, David Burke, and Rene Aruda.
Pat was born in Stoneham. He attended Somerville Vocational High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology where he later served as an instructor. After high school Pat enlisted in the Army and married the love of his life. He raised his family in Marshfield where he managed his construction business B.W Burke Company.
Pat was an avid Boston sports fan. He was owner and operator of Pin-a-For Farms (horse farm). He was a faithful, dedicated churchgoer who donated time and talents over the years at St. Christine's of Marshfield and Servants of Christ Ministries in Scituate. He built a portable care unit for Audrey Santos "Little Audrey" of Worcester.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street, Marshfield. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in St. Christines Parish Church, 1295 Main Street, Marshfield. Burial will be in the Couch Cemetery.
