Obituary

Beverly, known by all as Sunny, was the loving mother to Dr. Jeffrey Adams of Marshfield and Jill Armstrong of Marshfield; cherished grandmother of Justin Adams, Rebecca Santos, Victoria Croswell, Whitney Patton, P.J. Armstrong, and Nathan Armstrong; great-grandmother of Wesley Patton, Bodie Patton, and Piper Croswell; daughter of the late Oliver T. and Beverly C. (Dunn) Virta; sister of Robert Virta of Norwell; mother in-law of Melinda Adams and Paul Armstrong; aunt of Stacey Virta.

Sunny was born in Weymouth, lived and graduated in Norwell. After raising a son with asthma, she was driven to pursue a career in Respiratory Therapy. After receiving her degree later in life, she worked for Massachusetts Respiratory Hospital in Braintree. While employed there, Sunny won a national award for her care of chronic and terminally ill patients, for engineering a portable respiratory wheelchair to allow patients access to outside. Loved by all her patients, she was often invited to attend holidays. Sunny loved and cared for her patients for more than 30 years.

Sunny's name encompasses exactly who she was as a person, she brought sunshine to everyone around her. Not only was she THE BEST grandmother in the World to her six grandchildren & three great grandchildren, everyone considered her their grandmother. Her home was always open and welcome to all, with visits that would always include her classic cheese and crackers. Her true passion was her family, which was evident by her annual "Mum- mums" Christmas parties thrown for her grandchildren. These amazing parties would take the entire year to plan and started when the first grandchild was just a toddler, and has continued every year since. She was an exceptional grandmother who made every grandchild think and feel they were "the favorite." She was always the side kick to all their activities, whether that be driving to catch biggest wave, family trips to Disney World, Dairy Queen runs, annual pie baking or driving all over the South Shore to find the best deal. There wasn't a day that went by that she wasn't bopping around town with her daughter & best friend Jill. These two truly were two peas in a pod!

Her grandchildren will severely miss her ongoing-guided wisdom. Not only was she fun to be around, but also taught everyone life lessons and was the "jack-of-all-trades". You could ask her questions about gardening, interior design, mothering, laundering, knitting, and even electronics. Always one to think about "safety first", the whole family would receive a text on rainy days to be careful about the wet leaves while driving!

Sunny truly was one of kind and will be forever missed by all!
