Brenda Louise Tehranian said goodbye to us on June 3rd, 2024, but left behind a world that will forever be a brighter and better place thanks to her tenure.
Born into the Silent Generation on November 27th, 1942, Brenda was anything but. She had an opinion on everything, and whether you agreed with it or not, it was always the right one. Her quick wit, and no-nonsense attitude were completely overshadowed by an innate and infinite capacity for generosity and kindness. You knew where you stood with her, and she wasn't shy to straighten you out when you stepped out of line. If ever you were in need, even if you were on her bad side, she'd move mountains to help you. Others always took priority over herself, period.
Having married an Iranian national, Dr. Nasser Tehranian, in 1964, Brenda's union was a masterclass in cross-cultural relations. Together they were the benevolent matriarch and patriarch of a large, close-knit, diasporic, and beautifully diverse family. Their home was often the first stop for relatives starting new lives in the United States, and they were the go-to parents for anyone needing a roof and a helping hand. The extended family currently spans the globe and remains tightly connected, which is a direct result of Brenda and Nasser's boundless hospitality, unwavering support, and undeniable influence. These values lived on through Brenda, as a solo act, after Nasser passed away in 2013.
True to the Brenda's credo, caregiving went hand in hand with being carefree. She threw some of the most epic parties the South Shore had ever seen. Any and every event deserved a celebration, and only one person could pull it off. Seriously, one person. Because if you offered to help out, it just meant you were getting in the way. From the food to the company, everything was the best you could wish for, especially the memories.
Even with education, the thread of generosity bound together the fabric of Brenda's knowledge. Each of her three degrees—Nursing, History, and Education—were earned with a higher purpose in mind: giving back to those who needed it.
Brenda is survived by four children (Laila, Sussanne, Dona, and Joseph); nine grandchildren (Michael, Nicholas, Stephen, Hannah, David, John, Brian, Sara, and Markos); one great-granddaughter (Nora); two siblings (Dennis and Catherine); countless cousins, nieces, and nephews; and innumerable friends. All of us carry her spirit and project it into the world in our own way.
We think her parents, Catherine Tedesco Daly (1922-2018) and Bernard Lawrence Daly (1913-1996) would be proud of the life she lived and the legacy she left.
We know we are.
A service to celebrate Brenda's life will be held at St. John the Baptist Parish, 44 School Street, Quincy, MA 02169 on June 14th at 10:00AM. In lieu of Flowers, we kindly ask for donations to be sent in her name to the Salvation Army, online at https://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/ or to the Wounded Warrior Project, online at https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
