Obituary

Brian W. Gavaghan of Plymouth passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2021 at the age of 64. Beloved husband of Jayne (Morrissy) Gavaghan; loving father of Seamus Gavaghan of Plymouth; dear son of the late George and Ethel (Bierman) Gavaghan and brother of the late Kathi Gavaghan and the late Maureen Gavaghan.

Brian grew up in Marshfield, where he graduated from Marshfield High School in 1975. He played football for the Rams while at Marshfield High. Brian made many good friends while living in Marshfield and remained in touch with them well beyond his high school years. Later, he enjoyed reminiscing about his high school days and friends, both on and off the field.

After graduating, Brian worked many jobs, but the one that stands out the most is Almy's Department Store, where he again made many good friends and met his wife, Jayne. Brian and Jayne were married for 33 years and had a son Seamus, of whom Brian was very proud.

Brian also enjoyed his summer vacations to Newfound Lake in New Hampshire, as well as semi-regular trips to Disney World, with extended family. We will miss Brian on these trips, but will always have wonderful memories of all the good times we shared with him.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann by the Sea Parish Church, 591 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery of Kingston.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian's memory can be made to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.
