Obituary

Brian Olson of Marshfield passed away on July 20, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 58. Beloved husband of 30 years to Laura (Basile) Olson; cherished father of Katherine, Jake, and Maximillian Olson, all of Marshfield; dear brother of R. Wayne Olson of Canton, Cliff Rahaim and his wife Rachel of Hopkinton, Karen Olson Barrow Rahaim and her husband Robert of E. Sandwich, Pamela Olson of Orleans, and Victoria Olson of Novato, CA; loving son of Barbara (Flaherty) and Edward Rahaim.

Brian was U.S. Navy Veteran who earned his degree in Civil Engineering at UMass Dartmouth. Brian loved his wife Laura and his children - Jake, Kt and Max, and his dog Avery. He would always make the time to be with his children and actively participate in their lives, whether it was a Sunday morning track meet, art show, or scouting, you could find him keeping the masses on the sidelines entertained. Family vacations on the Vineyard were his favorite as he enjoyed the quiet island life. Brian always tried to make his children's friends feel welcomed and he encouraged them to stay focused on their goals and not to let the gunslingers take that away. While he often mentored new hires he didn't just teach them the trade - he also encouraged them to invest in themselves by continuing their education and opening a Roth. He enjoyed a nice game of golf with his brothers and Bob Reilly up north or local with Jonny L or Bob D. His time was often spent on John and Cheryl's boat or sipping on a cold bud light at the Cask where his children's friends flocked to him like the Pied Piper. We've all heard the Brianisms "rather be looking at it than looking for it" "the 7 Ps" "when it makes sense people" and countless others. And I challenge you to find one person who doesn't know what Brian drives.

Something most people don't know about Brian is his quiet generosity. He couldn't pass by a sidewalk lemonade stand without making a purchase & telling the young entrepreneurs to make sure they invested their profits wisely or free plumbing work to those who were struggling financially to care for their families. He was very protective of his family and kept it all private. He did not feel the need to share his life story in social media he would rather play a round of golf, watch a ball game or attend a concert to enjoy the one on one. Brian was one of a kind and there is nothing that can fill the hole he left in our hearts. His parting words were to take care of each other, live life to the fullest and appreciate your health. Thank you all for being a part of his life.

Services at the MacDonald Funeral Home in Marshfield will be private.
