Obituary

Celebrating the life of Carol Spooner. At age 69, she passed away peacefully on July 3rd leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and a life beautifully lived. She was an amazing mother, sister, wife, and friend who brought a spark of joy into every room she walked into.

Carol was the beloved wife of Stephen Spooner, mother of Mikel Bowman, Jason and Samantha Spooner, Jessie and Kevin Swist, and grandmother of Tyler Swist. Predeceased by her parents Robert P. and Dorothy A. (Robinson) Bowman, she was dear sister of Jan Bowman, Lee Bowman, Lisa Bowman, and late sisters Patricia Burke and Susan Bowman. Carol also leaves many nieces, nephews, friends, and numerous extended cousins, as well as her cherished dogs Mykos and Pippi.

Born and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts, Carol possessed a bright mind and a determined spirit. Earning her bachelor’s degree, she built a successful corporate career spanning several decades. While she thrived in the corporate world, her deep, undeniable love for animals eventually led her to follow her heart, opening her own pet services business - a venture that allowed her to combine her sharp professional talents with her passion for dogs.

To know Carol was to know the true meaning of hospitality. She was effortlessly fun, genuinely the life of the party, and she absolutely loved filling her home with friends, family, and good energy. Her warmth was matched only by her devotion to her loved ones and her beloved dogs, who were a constant source of happiness in her life. She tried to live life to the fullest, especially in the last 10 years with her battle with cancer. To see her strength and relentlessness during that journey was just another testament to how powerful and strong she was. She will be deeply missed and cherished forever.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
