Carole A. McHugh, 79, of Duxbury (Kingston the past 5 years), passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 13. Beloved wife of the late Dick McHugh. Number 1 World Ranked Mom to sons Rick McHugh and his wife Caitlin Tirrell of Hopkinton, MA and David McHugh and his wife Andrea Kavoosi of Los Angeles, CA. Head-over-heels-in-love grandmother to Quinn, Devin, Zia, and Renzo. Devoted sister of Barbara Bohammed of Ventura, California, Edward Bistany and his wife Brenda of Griffin, Georgia, and the late Diana Masood of Duxbury. And of course, we can't forget the many, many nieces and nephews whom she loved to the moon and back. Hard work was not something Carole shied away from. While raising her two sons, she started a secretarial business out of her home for several local businesses. After that venture, she worked at the Duxbury Middle School, was a realtor, opened the Duxbury Dollhouse, and for the last 12 years of her professional life worked her way up to a manager at EquiServe, handling IPO closings. Carole was an avid reader, an up-for-anything traveler, a knitter of cozy blankets, a QVC shopaholic, and most of all, the best hugger we've ever known. The world will be a little dimmer without her smile and love.

Visiting hours will be held in the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 in Marshfield on Wednesday, April 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 27, in Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont St. Rte. 3A, Duxbury at 10 a.m.

The family would like to recognize the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center for the incredible care Carole received the past two years. Donations in Carole's name may be made to the Center for Gynecologic Oncology or the Duxbury Thrift Shop Scholarship Fund.
