Obituary

Carolyn (Jones) DeLoid, of Duxbury, passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2017 at the age of 77. She leaves behind her beloved husband, John P. "Jack" DeLoid Jr., and her children Dr. Glen DeLoid of Natick and Susan Jamieson and her husband Alan of Duxbury. She was also the mother of the late Julie Clapp of Belfast, Maine, and the late John P. DeLoid III of Duxbury. She was the loving grandmother of Jonathan, Jerahmy, Jessica, and Jillian Clapp of Belfast, Maine, and Alexander and Anna Jamieson of Duxbury.  She is survived by her brother Herbert Jones of Arlington, TX, and her sister Beverly Lemasa and her husband Linwood (Murph) of Marshfield, as well as several loving nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was born in Brockton in 1939. After graduating from Brockton High School in 1957, she applied her love of numbers and record keeping to her successful career as a bookkeeper and secretary with several local businesses.  In 1967 she married the love of her life, Jack before moving to their treasured historic farmhouse (Mayflower Farm) in Duxbury where they raised their four children, and a variety of farm animals.   After moving to the farm, Carolyn quickly developed a love of gardening.  Her favorite place to be was at home, working in her vegetable gardens and flowerbeds.

She and her family were very active in the Marshfield United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years.  She found great joy in researching the history and genealogy of her family, farmhouse and community, which she documented in many beautifully crafted scrapbooks that she loved to share with her friends and family.
