Celia Reiling passed away on October 11, 2023 at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Thomas Reiling, and her brothers, Major Edward Powers of Arizona and Francis R. Powers of Humarock, and her sisters, Margaret Powers and Rita Kiely of Boston. Celia is survived by her stepchildren Betsy Hodge, Eileen Burrick, Mary Cancellare and the late Kathy Yurof as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Celia was born in Boston, the youngest child of Edward and Delia Powers. She graduated from Northeastern University with a Master's Degree in Sociology and from Boston University with a Master's Degree in Human Service Administration and Counseling. She also studied at the University of Hawaii. She was on the faculty of Chamberlayne Junior College in Boston and was an adjunct professor at Bryant University in Rhode Island. She is recorded in the Marquis Who's Who of American Women.
Celia resided in Stewart, Florida for 30 years and served as President of the Yacht and Country Club's 18-hole Lady Golfers.
She lived in Vero Beach, Florida at the Indian River Estates and summers in New England in Little Compton, Rhode Island. Celia was a member of St. John of the Cross in Vero Beach and St. Catherine Siena in Rhode Island.
Services on Friday, October 20, 2023 will begin with an hour of visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Christine Parish Church, 1295 Main Street in Marshfield. Burial will be in the Couch Cemetery.
