Charlotte Marie Rasmussen, of Marshfield, Massachusetts — beloved mother, sister, healer, and compassionate guardian of animals.
Charlotte Marie Rasmussen, a loving mother, devoted sister, spiritual counselor, and lifelong caretaker of people and animals, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 3, 2025. She was 66 years old.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved parents, George and Janet Rasmussen. Charlotte is survived by her two sons, whom she deeply cherished, Michael "Mike" Rees and his wife Rebecca, and their children Caroline, Forrest, and Violet, of Marshfield. Nicholas "Nick" Rees and his wife Amanda, and their son Levi, of Marshfield., her siblings Mark Rasmussen of the Big Island, Hawaii, and Neil and Stephanie Rasmussen of Lawrence, Kansas, and her nieces and nephews Eli Rasmussen and Abigail Prochaska, as well as her cherished pets, Maggie and Zigs. She is also survived by many extended family members, coworkers, friends, and community members whose lives she touched in countless ways.
Born in Buffalo, New York, on June 5, 1959, Charlotte lived there until 1968, when her family moved to Scituate for a brief but profoundly meaningful time in her childhood. It was there that she first connected with the ocean — a love that touched her soul and remained central to her life. In 1969, she moved with her family to Westwood, where she lived until 1980 before eventually settling in Marshfield.
Charlotte attended Southeastern Massachusetts University for nursing and spent her professional life in compassionate, service-centered roles. She worked at CFK Printing in Westwood, Wearguard, and as a real estate agent, but found one of her most meaningful roles at Cranberry Hospice, where she supported the nurses and counselors who traveled into the community to care for patients. Charlotte held deep respect and admiration for the hospice staff, and in a profoundly touching full-circle moment, many of those same colleagues — who were also close friends — became the angels who cared for her during the final stages of her own life.
Her natural gift for nurturing extended to all living beings. As a volunteer and board member of Friends of the Marshfield Animal Shelter, Charlotte devoted countless hours to caring for abandoned, injured, and vulnerable animals. She lovingly tended to puppies, kittens, birds, and even owls, offering the calm, patient presence that was uniquely hers. She sadly leaves behind her own beloved pets, Maggie, her loyal dog, and Zigs, her cantankerous cat, who were treasured members of her family.
Charlotte was also a Reiki Master, and her spiritual work became one of the defining callings of her life. She volunteered her Reiki skills at The James P. Harrington (JPH) Organization in Marshfield — a nurturing and inclusive community dedicated to holistic wellness, healing, and transformation. JPH's mission of accessible, equitable healing aligned beautifully with Charlotte's own beliefs. Their vision of helping people "heal, build strength, and transform pain into power" was a mission Charlotte embodied every day. Through Reiki, she brought peace, grounding, and spiritual comfort to those navigating illness, pain, transition, or emotional hardship.
A deeply spiritual woman, Charlotte counseled and supported so many — family, friends, and community members alike. She was intuitive, compassionate, and wise, with an extraordinary capacity to listen without judgment and to guide others with clarity and love. She had the biggest heart, a fierce and gentle spirit, and a warrior's commitment to caring for those who needed her.
