Cheryl Ann Buotte Hopkinson, of El Cajon, CA, passed away peacefully in her home on July 10, 2019, at the age of 59, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She leaves behind her loving husband, John A. Hopkinson of El Cajon, CA; mother to Jill Brazao and husband Philip Brazao, Jr. of Pembroke, and Amy Hopkinson of Marshfield; grandmother to Raegan Brazao of Pembroke, and furgrandchild Rue. Daughter of the late Robert Albert Buotte, Sr., and Carol May Buotte of Plymouth. One of four, she leaves behind her sister Diane Keogh and husband Michael Keogh of Halifax, sister Kathryn Sylvia of Acushnet, and joins her brother, the late Robert A. Buotte, Jr. Aunt to Kyle Keogh of Halifax, Kathryn E. Sylvia of Boston, Michael Sylvia of Westport, Dylan Buotte of Dennisport, and Kristan Buotte of Yarmouthport. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Cheryl spent most of her life in Marshfield, where she and John raised their children. Growing up in a military family, she lived in many different places, though Nantucket was always one of her favorite places to live and visit. She loved her family and friends dearly. She was very involved in her children's lives and the Marshfield community, volunteering at their schools, with Marshfield Youth Cheerleading, and Marshfield Youth Softball. She was known as "Mom" or "Mrs. Hopi" to her children's friends. She was an avid reader and was a very talented painter. She was a member of the Society of Decorative Painters, in which she painted memory boxes for families to place cherished mementos of premature babies taken too soon.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m, followed by a memorial service from 6:30 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. Family and Friends are invited to attend.
