Celebration of Life
Cheryl Ann (Nangle) Flagg, age 80, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026. Born on August 1st, 1945, in Plymouth, she was the daughter of John “Bud” Nangle and his wife Millie. Cheryl was the wife of the late John “Jack” Flagg, Jr., with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.
Cheryl grew up in Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield high school in 1963. She continued her education at North Adams State College (now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts) and Boston State College (now UMass Boston) where she earned her degree in elementary education.
On August 5th, 1967, Cheryl married John “Jack” Flagg, Jr.
Cheryl dedicated 20 years to teaching second grade at the South River school, where she also touched the lives of many students with her patience, kindness, and encouragement. She later worked for 10 years at Queen Anne nursing home, where her caring spirit and compassion for others were appreciated by residents and staff alike.
Cheryl enjoyed traveling and after retiring she and her husband spent many years in Florida. They shared a passion for riding motorcycles and travelled with friends throughout Florida and out west, including a memorable trip to Mt. Rushmore.
She also had a lifelong love of animals. Cheryl raised four generations of her Golden Retrievers and often adopted older cats from local shelters. Her compassion for animals reflected the kindness that defined her life.
Those who knew Cheryl remember her as a beautiful, kind, caring and positive soul who always found the good in everyone. She was also loyal to family and friends.
Cheryl was predeceased by her husband John “Jack” Flagg, Jr., and by her parents John “Bud” and Millie Nangle. She is survived by her sister Jayne Nangle Peterson (Karl), her brother Lawrence Nangle (Linda) and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Cheryl's life will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the First Congregational Church in Marshfield.
