Mackedon, Christopher M., 69, of Green Harbor/Marshfield, January 4, 2022. Beloved son of the late James and Roberta (Hanley) Mackedon. Brother of Susan and her husband Mark MacDonald of Marshfield. Loving uncie of Leah MacDonald and Hillary Campia both of Marshfield. Great uncie to Sebastian, Michael, Rhys, Clara, Hazel, and Dominic.

Chris was born and raised in Brockton, MA. and summered in the Green Harbor section of Marshfield before moving there permanently in 1975. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1970 and joined the National Guard during a difficult time in our history. Chris was a chef at several restaurants before being employed and retiring from the Marshfield DPW / Cemetery and Greens Division. He had daily routines that one could set their clocks by. Weekends were spent at the dog track and later at Plainridge. Afternoons after work were spent betting on the phone with Bernie, his best friend from high school, discussing their strategies. Daily trips to Shaw's and the barrels out 2 days before rubbish day was what you could expect. Chris was also an animal lover. He would feed stray cats and provide them with refuge, even leaving the cellar open with lights, food and a space heater in the winter.

Chris lived with his sister Susan and her family for over 40 years, a true "Uncle Buck" of sorts. His nieces found it interesting explaining that he wasn't their dad to all their friends for most of those years. He would tell the same joke several times and had a different one for every occasion. It is true that the funniest people have the darkest demons, and 2020 arrived with a pandemic that changed Chris' life. His depression overtook him, and to say "he did not die of Covid but that Covid killed him" would be an understatement. Chris, "You were loved", and we find comfort in knowing that you can now rest in peace.

Funeral Services will be Private. The placement of his ashes beside his mother will be in the Couch Cemetery Marshfield at a later date.
