Christos L. Tsokanis of Marshfield, MA passed away from pulmonary fibrosis along with comorbidities on Saturday, March 11, 2023. His passing was peaceful at home with his wife Jean of 55 years. Chris was born in Brockton MA on March 23, 1934 where he grew up with his older brother Peter, now deceased, and their parents, Lucas and Zafiroula, originally from Greece. He graduated from Brockton High School, followed by Villanova University and Boston University. He completed graduate school at Babson College. He had a successful career in the financial industry and retired from Bank Boston in 1990.
Chris was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of the Marshfield Country Club where he served as treasurer for 10+ years. He enjoyed his time there, both on and off the course, and was an icon to the membership. If not on the course, he could be found enjoying lunch and sharing stories with other golfers in the Clubhouse. He had a passion for music and loved all genres. To his family and friends, he was the consummate entertainer when he would sit down at his beloved piano. He had a keen sense of music and an amazing gift to play by ear; astounding for a man who was 50% deaf since childhood. He was passionate about learning to read music, and in retirement, studied piano at Berklee College of Music.
Chris loved to travel and made lifelong companions along the way with his friendly demeanor and quick sense of humor. He enjoyed eating out at his favorite restaurants and would always share with the restaurant proprietor "there are only 2 kinds of food: good food and bad food." He loved sharing quips about sports and life with anyone who would engage in conversation. His gardens and yard brought him a wonderful sense of pride and accomplishment. He enjoyed all parts of landscaping chores. However, his most favorite thing in life was teasing his family and friends; always with a devilish grin.
He is survived by his beloved wife Jean, his daughter Brenda and her husband James, his granddaughter Alexandra Cahill and her husband Peter, and granddaughter Laura Murphy and her fiancé Richard, and his nephew Luke Tsokanis and his family. He was blessed to have three great-grandchildren: Kyleigh, Raelynn and Lou, as well as a multitude of genuine friends.
Per his request, there will be no funeral services. Chris' family is planning a celebration of life to be held at Marshfield Country Club on June 10th at 1:00 pm for friends and family to share memories and stories about their wonderful time with Chris.
