Obituary

Robinson, Clara (Ahearn) of North Andover and formerly of Marshfield at 98. Beloved wife of the late John F. Ahearn and W. Calvin Robinson.

Clara was born in Falmouth Nova Scotia on June 27, 1917. Her family emigrated to Brookline MA in 1932, where she met and married John Ahearn in 1938. After the war, they settled in Marshfield where Clara worked for the Marshfield School Department for 20 years supporting the high school principal and befriending all the students who sat on the bench outside the principal's office awaiting discipline. Her friends were a legion – at St. Christine's parish, Marshfield High School and around town, she knew most everyone.

In 1974, she moved to Hanson. After she lost her husband John and her mother, Gram Church, she fell in love with and married W. Calvin Robinson in 1995. They resided in Andover and North Andover.

Clara once wrote:
"I have had the time of my life! My mother and father had a farm in Nova Scotia, Canada. Unfortunately, the depression took our farm away from us. My father decided the best place on earth to live was the United States, so we moved to Brookline.
Attending Brookline high was a difficult change, but a nice girl named Marge introduced me to her brother. One night he decided the snow leading up the steps to the library was too slippery so he drove his car up the steps to drop me off. We were married and had 46 wonderful years together.

After John passed, I cared for my mother and worked at a senior citizen center in the south shore. Then, after 12 years, something wonderful happened. I wed Cal Robinson. Our marriage was so wonderful. But best of all we had family all around us."

A loving wife and mother, Clara was a true friend and a great gardener. The echo of her voice can still be heard on the South River calling her children and all their friends.

Clara is survived by her dear children Tom and Ruth (Allen) Ahearn of Ft. Myers FL, Ned and Linda (Semensi) Ahearn of Austin TX and Jean (Ahearn) Tobin and her husband Jon of Rochester NY. Grandchildren and spouses/imazi include John Ahearn of Natick MA, Mary Jean (Ahearn) and Bob Rotondo of Marshfield MA, Patrick and Tessa (Wright) Tobin of Rochester NY, Jay and Jackie (Castro) Tobin of Houston TX, Jill (Ahearn) and Mike Dickinson of Austin TX and Karen Ahearn and Ben Marsh of Studio City CA. Clara has eleven great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Jack, Michael, Joe, Bobby, Michael, Liam, JJ, Keegan, Garrett and Edward.
