IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarence Daniel
Gonsalves
November 23, 2021
Clarence Daniel Gonsalves, 62, of Dorchester, Massachusetts, passed away on November 23, 2021, surrounded by family.
Clarence was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts in 1959 to the late Etelvina "Peggy" Gonsalves. Growing up in Marshfield, Massachusetts, he played in Little League Baseball in middle school, helping his team to the finals and in his past time enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. After graduating from Marshfield High School in 1977, Clarence received his Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Massachusetts followed by his Master's in Social Work (MSW) from Springfield College with a focus in Teen Mental Health.
In writing this obituary, many family and friends were asked to describe Clarence in one word. Many gave words such as hilarious, comical, jokester, humorous and funny. He was also a best friend, loyal, respectful, protective, passionate, proud, and reserved. Some even pointed out how he was a smooth talker with a lot of swagger and charisma. To some, he was called "Clay Dog." Others remember when Clarence would share childhood stories at family reunions, which were always followed by a joke and chuckle. After all, that is what he did so well, make everyone laugh.
Clarence was all these things and more, and for this, he will be greatly missed. We are all so blessed and grateful for the love and memories we created with him and will cherish them always.
As we say our goodbyes for now to our beloved, he leaves behind his daughters Xiomara Alicea and Omaira J. Alicea Ravelo, grandchildren Heaven Carter and Loyal Ravelo of Massachusetts and Aiyana Brooks of Maryland; brothers Joseph "JoJo" (Pam) Roderick of Orlando, Florida, Richard "Ricky" (Anna) Roderick of Plymouth, Massachusetts; Charles (Michelle) Gonsalves of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Charles Fernandes Jr. (brother at heart) of Dorchester, Massachusetts; sisters Loreen (Donald) Rankins of Roxbury, Massachusetts and Lisa Stewart of Pembroke Pines, Florida; uncles Kenneth Roderick of Marshfield, Massachusetts; and Charles Fernandes of Dorchester, Massachusetts; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Etelvina Gonsalves.
