Obituary

Clement "Vin" Horrigan, former Chief Engineer for International Programs at Hanscom Air Force Base, passed away on September 19, 2022 following a short illness. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Helen (Lane) Horrigan, as well as four sons – James (Lauren), of Scarborough, ME; John (Jennique), of Waltham; Joseph, of Chapel Hill, NC; and Jeffrey (Katie), of Germantown, WI – and three daughters – Julie McGuire (Jim), of Norwood; Judith Pilotte (Dick) of Hillsborough, NC; and Janet Horrigan (Tom Rossbach), of Foxboro; as well as two sisters, Brenda Kowalski and Barbara Harkcom; and devoted "wingman" Rob Dinan, of Marstons Mills. He was the grandfather of 10: Holly and James McGuire, Ross and Joseph Pilotte, and Helen, George, Catherine, Sean, Sadie and Kerry Horrigan. Vin was predeceased by his first wife, Margery Joan (Walsh), and a sister, Janet (White).

A Boston native, former resident of Dedham and longtime resident of Marshfield, Vin retired in 1987 after 35 years of service with four government agencies, including the Departments of the Army, Navy and Air Force. He flight-tested tactical aircraft and fighter interceptor radars as a Navy Lieutenant and, later, as a civilian. Vin led the USAF engineering team that developed specialized support aircraft for the NASA and USAF space programs and was the USAF Deputy Director of Engineering of the U.S. and NATO AWACS (E-3) aircraft programs. As USAF Chief Engineer for International Programs, Vin supervised the development and installation of airborne/ground command, control and intelligence systems in Egypt, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Thailand, Turkey and elsewhere. After retirement, he and Helen traveled the world, visiting 77 countries and all seven continents. Vin was also an award-winning photographer and model aircraft and ship builder.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church, 40 Canal Street in Marshfield. Interment will be in the Winslow Cemetery of Marshfield.
