Cornelius "Neil" Sullivan, of Marshfield passed away on April 15, 2023.
Born in Somerville to Daniel J Sullivan and Mary Theresa ( McCarthy) Sullivan, he was raised near Harvard Square, graduating from the Cambridge Public Schools and later attending Northeastern University.
Neil was an Army Veteran who served in the Korean War and had been employed at High Voltage Engineering in Burlington and Brigham's in Arlington. He had also been a bartender at The Daniel Webster House in Marshfield.
Neil is survived by his sister Mary Louise Stretton of Arlington MA, and brother Jeremiah Sullivan of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his brothers John, Daniel, and Joseph Sullivan and his sisters Margaret Donegan and Eileen Sullivan. He is survived by dozens of Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces and Grand Nephews, and numerous cousins here in the United States and in his beloved Ireland.
He also leaves behind his very good friends and caretakers Steven and Kimbell Ahlstrand of Marshfield..
A 65 year resident of Marshfield, Neil was the unofficial Mayor of Kearsarge Road where his porch always had an open chair for friends and family and a drink to go with it. Nobody went by his porch without being questioned as to who they were and who they knew. His presence made the neighborhood a safer place to live, giving new meaning to the term "neighborhood watch."
Neil's wake will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St Ann's By The Sea Parish Church, 591 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
Burial will be private.
The family would also like to thank Neil's Hospice Nurse Elise Abbene for her kindness and care.
