Cynthia S. (Shockley) Smith, of Marshfield, passed away on March 29, 2017 at the age of 95.  Beloved wife of the late Kenneth P. Smith and partner for 20 years of Robert Havlicek, Cynthia leaves her children, K. Paul Smith and his wife Linda of Oregon, Pamela Carlin and her husband Doug of New Hampshire, Karen Hohler and her late husband Robert of Boston, and Kevin Smith and his wife Dianne, MA.  She also leaves her grandchildren Raina Chrobak Yee and her husband Chris of Arlington, Kendra Kristen Smith of Maryland and Derek Steven Smith and partner Hindi Iserhott of Bali, Indonesia; and great grandchild Orion Gede Smith of Bali.  She also leaves Bob's daughter and granddaughter Mary and Alexandria Cornacchia of Westborough.

Cynthia was one of seven children born to the late Bernard W. and Alice (Bartlett) Shockley of Bridgewater.  She is predeceased by her siblings Barbara, John, Robert, Wilson, Eileen and Anne.  She worked as a hair stylist for many years and was a dedicated volunteer at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth.  She was also a member of the Marshfield Yacht Club and the Coast Guard Auxiliary.  She was the second oldest member of the First Congregational Church in Marshfield and active in the Ladies Benevolent Society and annual fairs.  Cynthia enjoyed rug making, knitting and sewing, gardening, and cake decorating.  She especially loved ballroom dancing and traveling the world with Bob.

Her family remembers her as an exceptionally giving person.  She was always ready to give a haircut for an elderly person who could not afford one or straighten out a friend's knitting project.  It was a pleasure for her to help others.  Her children remember picking blueberries, making elderberry jelly and the exploding bottles of home made root beer.  Even at 95 she constantly beat Bob at cribbage.
