Obituary

On August 8, 2021, after battling brain cancer for 4 years, 8-year-old Daniel "Danny" Bradshaw Sheehan entered the gates of Heaven to laugh and play with his identical twin, Joseph, as they never got to do here on Earth.

Danny is survived by his loving parents, Daniel and Natalie (Shaw) Sheehan of Marshfield; Grandparents Judith and Bradley "Tup" Shaw of Marshfield, Ellen Keating of Hingham, and Daniel Sheehan of Marshfield; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, police, nurses, doctors, teachers, and school friends.

Danny's departure leaves a hole in the lives of all those whom he met. To know him was to absolutely adore him. A wise old man in a little boy's body, Danny was an impish ball of determination, light, cuddles, stubbornness, manners, fighting spirit, humor, sweetness, and laughter. He loved nothing more than snuggling with his best friend, Mummy (said in an English accent – a result of Danny's being an avid fan of Peppa Pig), telling jokes with his beloved Daddy, making "set-ups" with his toys and trains, seeing his friends from school and attending birthday parties, making voyages to the toy aisles of Target, devouring endless plates of noodles with Parmesan cheese or fries with ketchup, and telling everyone about how his rescue dogs, Ryder and Miley, wrestled too much … and that Miley ate Ryder's poop.

Whether you knew him as Marshfield Police Officer Sheehan, the young superhero coined AquaDan after his affection for Aquaman, the little redhead who bounced around the halls of Boston Children's Hospital, a champion of raising funds for various nonprofits, or a future rock star racecar driver, each interaction with Danny was sure to be one with silly stories, songs, or jokes. Always levity and laughter. In true Danny fashion, we leave you with one of Danny's favorite jokes: "Why did the poodle turn the air on? Because it didn't want to be a hot dog!" May you always hear his little voice telling this joke followed by echoes of his riotous laughter.

Visiting hours will be held at Saint Christine's Church in Marshfield on Wednesday, August 11 th from 2pm-6pm. Wednesday night (August 11) at 7pm the Marshfield Police, along with other departments, will have a farewell escort for Officer Danny Sheehan. They will be leaving St. Christine's and proceeding to Plain Street, turning left at Roche Bros. and driving down Ocean Street to Dyke onto Careswell, then Webster back to Ocean and end at MacDonald's Funeral Home.  We encourage the town Danny loved, and that loved Danny, to come out in full force and BRIGHT COLORS - to celebrate the incredible life of our young hero.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Christine's the following day, Thursday, August 12 th at 10am. Burial to follow immediately at Couch Cemetery, Union Street, Marshfield, MA.  For each component of this goodbye, attendees are encouraged to wear colorful attire as Danny favored sunshine and rainbows.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Cops for Kids with Cancer, by mail to P.O. Box 850956, Braintree MA 02185  or online at https://copsforkidswithcancer.org/ in Police Officer Daniel Sheehan's name.  Donations will be earmarked to assist Marshfield families struggling with the devastating impact of a cancer diagnosis.
