Obituary

David M. Iacino of Marshfield, MA passed away on October 5, 2023, after a bravely-fought illness. He tried hard to regain his strength with the hope of returning to his home to be with his wife Joan.

Dave was the only child of the late Nunzio and Isda (Sacco) Iacino.  He was deeply proud of his full Italian heritage and his upbringing in Torrington, Connecticut.

After graduating from Torrington High School in the Class of 1960, Dave entered Providence College. He participated in the Reserve Officers Training Corp and graduated with a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1964. He was an enthusiastic Friar alumnus and was active in planning reunion events with his classmates and raising donations for the College. He also earned a master's in information science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Dave spent time in the US Army proudly serving our country, including a tour of duty at a missile base in Vietnam. He then started a long, successful career in the banking industry, specializing in database management and application development. This included working for Hartford National Bank, Cullinet Software, BankBoston, FleetBoston Financial (now Bank of America) and Liberty Mutual. While at BankBoston, he established and led their millennium Y2K compliance program, which included an opportunity to speak before the United States Senate.

Dave was an active communicant at St. Christine Catholic Church in Marshfield. He taught religious education classes at various times and was a faithful attendant at mass with Joan.

Dave and Joan loved spending winters in Jupiter, FL and taking special trips to Europe, including visits to Ireland and several to Italy. He continued to take Italian language lessons to maintain his fluency.

He learned from his father tremendous skills as a handyman and a woodworker. He was in his element in his workshop and when completing home improvement projects. He was also a natural at making people laugh with a playful sense of humor that can be described as "Dad jokes" before the term became popular. He acted like a little kid himself with his grandchildren, taking special joy in making them smile and laugh.

He learned from his mother the value of a kind and warm heart. He valued time spent with his family and friends, including special friends maintained for many years from his days in Torrington and at Providence College.

Dave truly loved his life and home in Marshfield with Joan, and he adored being a beloved Papa along with Nonni to their grandchildren. They also found joy and comfort over the years from their beloved dogs Ginger, Zuccie and Annie.

Dave is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joan (Hurley) Iacino of Marshfield, his three children David J. Iacino (Lisa) of Burlington, CT, Michele Krivickas (Tom) of South Windsor, CT, Jeffrey Iacino (Cory) of Harwinton, CT, stepdaughter Heather Donovan (John) of Plymouth, MA, and 7 grandchildren, John, Emilia and David C. Iacino, Sarah Krivickas, and Jake, Bella and Nicholas Donovan.
