Nickerson, David E., of Marshfield, passed away on February 9, 2017 at the age of 80. David is the beloved husband of Laurinda "Lauri" (Phinney) Nickerson and dear father of David E. Nickerson Jr., Jonathan Nickerson, Tabitha Nickerson, Edward Nickerson, and Nicholas Nickerson.  David leaves his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and 8 brothers and sisters.

David "The Fossil" Nickerson was a life long auto mechanic, retiring from Tracy Motors at the age of 65. A Jack of all trades, he was always taking care of whatever his family needed. From middle of the night road calls to listening to anyone's troubles and giving his little pearls of wisdom. He served 4 years in the United States Army in the 1950's as a transportation specialist in Germany. During the 1970's and early 80's he owned and operated 2 service stations in Pembroke and Hanover, breaking million gallon sales during the gas crisis. He later worked for the Cadillac Center in Brockton and then finished his tour as a mechanic for Tracy Motors. In 1980 he married his best friend Laurinda (Phinney) Nickerson. He spent most of his retirement doing what he did best, taking care of his family and enjoying every moment with his grandchildren. He was a loving, caring and knowledgeable man. He will be missed by all who he touched.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) Marshfield. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
