David A. Smith, 76 of Marco Island, FL. and Pembroke, MA., formerly of Marshfield, Nov 20, 2018. Dave was the beloved husband of Valerie G. (Young) Smith, loving father of David A. Jr. and his wife Ingrid (Bornheimer) Smith of Flower Mound, TX. Grandfather of Haley and Luke Smith. Brother of Dr. John E. Smith Jr (Marie) of Weymouth, Nancy J. Stuart (Paul) of Plymouth, the late Donald R. Smith and the late Kenneth B. Smith (Karen). Brother in-law of Donna Smith. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

David was born in Weymouth and has lived in Hingham, Weymouth, Marshfield, and in his retirement, Marco Island, FL. He was a graduate of Manlius Military Academy in Manlius, NY. and Northeastern University. David was the owner and president of D. Smith Associates Inc. in Rockland. He was a member of the Weymouth Elks, Marshfield Country Club and Hideaway Beach Golf Club. If you knew Dave Smith, you knew he was full of love. He loved golf but didn't like 18 holes, He loved boating but didn't like docking a boat and he loved his dogs… "we think" but most important you knew he loved his family and his friends. He loved his friends from Weymouth where he grew up and his friends at the Elks.  He loved his friends from the South Shore where he spent most of his life and loved his friends in Florida where he spent his winters. He loved his family, his wife, his son, daughter-in-law and his amazing grandchildren. He loved his three brothers, his sister, his nieces, nephews and his cousins and he loved his country which he served in the army reserves for 7 years. Dave LOVED life. He will be forever missed, but his spirt, kindness, strength and generosity will never be forgotten.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday November 29, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the MacDonald Funeral Home 1755 Ocean St. (Rte. 139) Marshfield. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday November 30, at 11:00 am in the North Community Church, 72 Old Main St. Marshfield. Interment in the Couch Cemetery Marshfield will be held at a later date.
