David J. Spera passed away at Wingate in Kingston on May 28, 2026 at the age of 95. Born in Somerville, David lived in Braintree for 42 years and graduated from Braintree High School in 1949. David retired from the Braintree Police Department after 35 years of service then became a security guard at Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Rockland for 14 years. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War.

David was a member of the Braintree Sons of Italy, The Braintree Elks, and the Braintree VFW. He enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, walking the beach with his wife and dogs, and dining out.

David was the beloved husband of the late Shirley (Parker) Spera, son of the late Primo and Palma Spera, and brother of the late John and Robert Spera. He was loved and treasured by his many nieces and nephews, especially Tammy, Cyndi, and Kim, who all looked after him.

David’s kindness and positive happy attitude will be greatly missed.

David will be laid to rest with a Graveside Service on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Couch Cemetery in Marshfield. Funeral Services provided by the MacDonald Funeral Home of Marshfield.
