Declan M. Normanly of Marshfield, suddenly on January 1, 2019. Beloved son of Elizabeth T. (Bell) Normanly of Marshfield and Eamon J. Normanly of Attleboro and brother of Aidan S. Normanly of Attleboro and Teresa M. Normanly of Marshfield; cherished grandson of Robert and the late Elizabeth Bell of Hingham and the late Edward and Rose Normanly; Declan also leaves many loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
Declan was a beautiful soul whose time here feels too short for those of us who loved him. He loved his family, large and extended, friends, and his beloved dog Terzian, who he raised and trained as a service puppy, and our scrappy little cat, Hagrid, Declan enjoyed time outdoors, in nature, at the beach. You may have seen him out in the neighborhood yourself, walking the dog or picking up litter at the seawall. He loved local skateboarding and music, and was always doing little things to better the community in his own way. He tried to live a healthy lifestyle, as close to nature as he could. The world was a better place because he was in it. Declan's bright light will be dearly missed here on earth, though we know that he is with us here in our hearts. From the age of 16, Declan struggled valiantly with mental illness and ultimately lost his life at the young age of 24. Thank you to everyone who was there to support Declan, even in the smallest ways. Your love mattered. It is with a heavy heart that we add our beloved Declan to the alarming and devastating number of young men this community has lost in recent years. We hope that this tragedy will raise awareness of the hidden battles that members of our community are facing every day, and inspire others to support and be compassionate towards those with mental illness.
