Obituary

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?

And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and see God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.

And when you have reached the mountaintop, then you shall begin to climb.

And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

Kahil Gibran

Dennis Leroy Willmont from Marshfield, MA born 11/21/1944 passed away at Tuft Medical Center from heart failure on January 27th surrounded by his wife, Annie Massed, his 4 children: Georgia, Osiris, Carenna, Brian and family. His oldest son Jud was unable to be present as he lives in China. He also leaves 3 grandchildren: Luke, Stella and Jake. Dennis was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1944 from parents June and George Willmont. Dennis was a "healer". He practiced energetic healing including sacred geometry, crystal healing, shiatsu, and acupuncture. He followed the Macrobiotic diet for 50 years, practiced Tai Chi and was active in the martial arts community at Dr. Yang Martial Arts Association in Boston.

Dennis traveled the United States in the 60's and settled in Boston where he attended and graduated from the first class of the New England Acupuncture School in 1976. Dennis Willmont was an Author, Acupuncturist, Shiatsu Practitioner, Chinese Herbalist, Essential Oils Practitioner, Macrobiotic counselor, and Way of Life counselor

A true pioneer, in the 1970's Dennis created and taught the first 500-hour program in Shiatsu/Acupressure in North America, before the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA®) existed.  He is an AOBTA® Certified Instructor and Honorary Member. Dennis was a self-taught scholar. In an attempt to share his vast knowledge with colleagues and students, Dennis wrote and published 13 books on Ancient Chinese Tradition and its relationship to acupuncture and natural healing, several of which have been used as textbooks in educational institutions.

Dennis had more than 40 years of experience with the Dàodéjīng – a classic Chinese text that has been a source of inspiration for Daoism, Buddhism, Confucianism, artists, poets and healers. Recently he completed his interpretation on Dàodéjīng, including photographs taken from his many trips to China, which correlate to the particular chapter or verse.

Being a Daoist, Dennis meditated daily, practicing Qigong and Tai Chi. He was a free thinker, always testing the limits of thought and ideas. He was a healer and touched many people's lives. He appreciated all living things and honored them. Being very active, Dennis loved to hike, dance and listen to music. He enjoyed daily walks in the woods and the beach and being part of a community of dog owners and dog lovers. In later years Dennis and Annie traveled to China, South America and Europe. Most of all he was a caring and loving husband and father. He will be missed by family and friends and will be forever remembered and revered for his contributions to others during his lifetime, including those who benefitted from his healing practice.
