Derek M. Smith, 47 of Marshfield, passed away on September 30, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Derek leaves his wife Natalie (Gendron) and their three sons Alex, Charlie, and Jack, all of Marshfield, his in-laws Patricia and Michael Gendron of Marshfield and sister-in-law Leslie and her husband Josh Veneziano of Fitchburg. Son of David and Lorraine (Reardon) Smith of Humarock, he leaves his brother Daniel Smith and his wife Kristen of Marshfield, his sister Abby and her husband Austin Harrell of N. Yarmouth, Maine, and several nieces and nephews.
Derek was a graduate of Norwell High School and Bryant College. He spent his professional career as an executive recruiter, where he built connections with people and helped guide them toward new opportunities.
His boys had a special way of bringing laughter into his life and brightening his days. Their smiles, stories, and the moments they shared gave him joy, even during difficult times. Of all the people and experiences that shaped Derek's life, his boys brought him some of his biggest smiles. Their laughter could warm his heart even on the hardest days.
He leaves behind those who knew him, loved him, and shared pieces of his journey. His memory will live on in the stories told, the moments remembered, and especially in the lives of his three sons.
Derek will be missed, and his memory will remain a part of the lives of those who knew him.
May he rest in peace.
