Diana "Lady Di" Smith, a cherished resident of Marshfield, MA for 58 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family, on March 31, 2025, at the age of
83. Her passing is mourned by her loving family and many friends, who will remember her for her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering spirit.
Born and raised in Whitman, MA, Diana lived a life filled with adventure and love. She graduated high school in Whitman and met her husband David. She quickly found her passion in real estate and worked as a broker for many years. Her favorite place of work was Seaside Homes with her very dear friend Madeline McDonald.
She lived life to the fullest and maintained her witty sense of humor throughout it. Diana and David travelled the world together and loved exploring. Their favorite place they visited was China.
Diana was known for her famous quotes and her fashion sense. She always said, "I'm F&D- Fine and Dandy," when asked how she is doing. She was also known to reverse her age when asked how old she was. Instead of turning 83 this year, she identified as a 38-year-old. Diana loved to say, "we all come into this world with two dates: the day you were born and your expiration date, and since you don't know the second one, you might as well have some fun." Her love for style and expression was unmatched, always wearing gold shoes and something leopard print to match her hundreds of ornate jewelry pieces she kept on rotation.
Diana was a devoted wife to her late husband, David and a loving mother to their children, Rebecca and her husband Kevin, Melissa and her life partner John, and her son Christopher. Diana is also survived by her six grandchildren Stephanie, Jonathan, Jessica, Cole, Brett, and Amelia. She also leaves behind her best friend Pam and her beloved dog Benji.
Diana's family wishes to extend love and gratitude to all of those who were able to see her and spend time with her before her passing. A memorial service to celebrate Diana's life will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Green Harbor Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Norwell VNA and Marshfield Boys and Girls Club
