Dimitrios I. Theodossiou, age 63 of Duxbury, formally of Milton, Boston, and Greece, died peacefully on July 22 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a 3-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born in the village of Filia on the island of Lesvos, Greece to Irakles and Marianthi (Vardaxis) Theodossiou and was the youngest of their three children. He immigrated with his parents to Boston at the age of 14 and graduated from Hyde Park High with Honors, then went on to major in Civil Engineering at Northeastern University. After college he worked at Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. as a Structural Designer and it is there that he met his wife, Donna. They were married for 36 years and had three wonderful children. His career took him to many construction projects in and around the Boston area and he retired in 2017 from the Tishman Engineering and Construction Co. as a Senior Project Engineer on the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
In his spare time he was devoted to the game of soccer, whether it was refereeing games, coaching kids to play, teaching others how to referee or watching every soccer game that he could. In 2012, he was named the Massachusetts State Referee Committee's Instructor of the Year and in 2014 he was fortunate enough to see the World Cup in Brazil with his son, Alex. He was also equally passionate about creating beautiful pottery, stunning photography, and was very proud of his prolific vegetable garden.
Dimitri volunteered his time and talents as a member of the Duxbury Zoning Board of Appeals, the Duxbury Seawall Committee, and the Building Committees for the new Fire and Police Stations in Duxbury. He also was a Habitat for Humanity volunteer.
Dimitri is predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife, Donna (Jennings) Theodossiou of Duxbury; his daughter and son-in-law, Marianthi and Mark Thomas of Weymouth; his sons, Alexander and Lukas Theodossiou; and the light of his life, granddaughter Phoebe Thomas. He also leaves behind his sister and husband, Anastasia and Leonidis Stavrinos of Greece; his brother and wife, George and Anthippe Theodossiou of Maryland; nieces Maria Stavrinou Fontenelle and family of Oslo, Norway; and Eleni (Theodossiou) Sherman and family of Virginia; and nephews, Georgios Stavrinos and family of Greece; and Hercules Theodossiou and family of Maryland as well as many other relatives and friends both here and in Greece.
