Donald Osborne Devine, age 83, passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Royal Norwell Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on May 7, 1935 in Medford, MA to Albert and Gladys Devine. He graduated from Westwood High School in 1953 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the Army, where he served from 1955-1957 in Munich, Germany. While in Germany he married Mary O'Donovan, with whom he would share nearly 62 wonderful years in marriage. Don and Mary eventually settled in Marshfield, MA where they raised their four boys. In 1987 he joined family members to acquire a grocery business, the Brant Rock Market in Marshfield.

Don was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. His love for baseball led him to involvement with Marshfield Youth Baseball. In his nearly 40 years of service he served as coach and as a league official. Don loved traveling with his wife, singing, playing Pinochle and talking with friends and family. He maintained a sense of humor and loved to make people laugh, often injecting levity, wit and delightfully prickly humor at the right moment.  Don maintained this trait to his final days.

He is survived by his beloved wife Mary O'Donovan Devine; his four sons Brian D. Devine and his wife Beth (Covel) of Pembroke; Donald D. Devine and his wife Diana (Barry) of Marshfield; Neal P. Devine of Gainesville, FL; Richard D. Devine of S. Burlington, VT, and his daughter in-law Kelly Devine from Charlotte, VT;  his sister Patricia (Devine) Newman of S. Royalton, VT; and his sister Kathleen (Devine) Grace of Wilton, N.H. Don was the proud Papa of eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Joan Pierce.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, Inc. 1755 Ocean St, Marshfield.  Funeral procession from the funeral home on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 am in St. Christine's Parish,1295 Main St, Marshfield. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Couch Memorial Cemetery on Union Street in Marshfield. Donations in Don's memory may be made to National Kidney Foundation, Inc., 30 East 33rd Street, NY, NY 10016 or to Marshfield Youth Baseball League.
