Donald E. Olinger, Sr., of Marshfield, passed away on May 11, 2018 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Elaine M. (Vallier) Olinger and dear father of Donald Olinger and his wife Patricia of Limington, ME, Thomas Olinger and his wife Karen of Marshfield, Jon Olinger of Marshfield, and the late Christine Olinger; cherished Papa to grandchildren Rachel, TJ, Glenn, Liz, Liam, and Ross; brother of Ruby Jean Olinger, Robert Olinger, Mary Emma Carter, Brenda Lou Hancock, Shirley Marie Olinger, Polly Sue Woodward, and Carol Ann Davis, Donald is predeceased by siblings Dorothy Clear, John William Olinger, Betty Ruth Jernigan, and Charles Olinger.

Donald was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea. His service in the Army also brought him to Massachusetts and he settled in Marshfield in 1966. Don worked at the Quincy Shipyard and for the Marshfield DPW, then finally retired from Enterprise Equipment after 30 years. He was affectionately known around town as Papa, Coach, and Semi-Genius.

Visiting of hours will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield.  Funeral procession from the funeral home on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal Street, Marshfield.
